I drove for UPS during a peak season back in the 80s when I got out of the military. You make a decent wage because there are time constraints. The number of packages loaded on your truck at night determines how much time you're allotted plus the # of packages you pick up. You stay out until all of your packages are delivered. During peak you will be expected to work because you will be the low man on the totem pole. During peak season expect to work 12-14 hour days (peak is approx. the beginning of November until a few days before Christmas. If you become a driver you are part of the Teamsters.
I used to work for UPS and the Teamsters are dicks if you're not a member. I got fired because one of their members wouldn't work with a F** literally the reason I got fired and I'm not even gay. They had to make up an excuse as to why they were actually letting me go, but that was only ever so slightly less illegal. I complained to the union, but they didn't care as I was still probationary and as far as I know, the pre-loader in question got to keep his job. I had to shell out hundreds of dollars for a job that paid slightly over minimum wage and the rats just took the money for no benefit to me. Scumbags.
That being said, once you are in, you're in and they'll shut off service to an entire highrise if the building isn't providing appropriate accommodations to do your job.
