I find it bizarre that some of the most menial jobs require a resume. By menial, I mean jobs that even a monkey can do. Like stocking merchandise. It’s hard to decipher what jobs are fake vs real on the Web sites like Indeed. Sometimes it’s just a pfishing attempt to data mine.

If I wanted to employ somebody to stack shelves, I'd like to know they are reliable and can produce a work history that shows they can follow instructions.

I still think it’s irrelevant for a menial job. Any previous jobs would indicate nothing. It’s like providing proof that one can breathe.

Nope, it is relevant. It's just demonstrating the person will stay in a menial role and not take off after 1 week or disappear for a cigarette every 5 minutes.

Or warning signs of a controlling environment.

Well, it is what it is, at the moment.

Since we are transitioning into a new tech revolution the jobs will be changing anyway.

Town Hall meetings are now virtual in many areas of the US, which indicates adaptations in traditional concepts. Old patterns are being reconfigured to adapt to new systems.

It’s an interesting time in human history and in evolution.
