Hi! I've got a crazy idea.

I'm a software engineer at a company which makes automated test equipment. There are lots of software engineers at the company, both at home and abroad.

It occurred to me that some of them may have some aspects of AS. I know I do, and you know how many software engineers tend to be geeky.

I was wondering whether I should go up to HR with some info on Asperger's and suggest that they set up some kind of on-site support or training for people with Asperger's (how to manage Aspies and so forth).

Normally, I wouldn't even consider this (I'm not even "out"). However, when you're dealing with a whole building full of software engineers (primarily male) having several Aspies in the company is a distinct possibility. Who knows, having an in-place Asperger's support system could serve to attract new employees!

What do you think?

Thanks in advance,

ACG

Is anybody having difficulty getting by in your office? If you suspect people are having trouble because of some AS-related issues, it might be a good idea. Lots of companies do "diversity" training, which typically focuses on racial diversity but should also include neuro-diversity as a topic.
