Ok, I have a BA in history. With which I can do.....that's right, nothing.
I have been thinking about going back to school, but I don't know what to study.
I'm very bad at math, so engineering is probably out.
What can I study that will not require math and will lead to an Aspie-friendly career?

I know what you are going through, since my all my degrees (BA in Anthropology and Geography, MA in History) are good for teaching and not much else.

Do you do well around children? A Special Education teacher might be a good choice.

How about language? An entry-level editing position might be the right fit.

You could also try research and travel positions.

Law. There are plenty of legal jobs that don't require you to speak in court.

...Ok, what's a CIA bookkeeper? Is that a joke?

Museum curator: Nice job if I could get it, but I'd need to at least get an MA in history, and those positions are limited. I wouldn't want to risk getting yet another useless degree.

Librarian: Something I've considered before and had forgotten about. That's an option.

Law: Another possibility. I should look into this field more, since I'm only familiar with "lawyer" and "legal secretary" positions.

Editing: Do I need more education for that? If so, what?

Teaching: Nope. Don't fancy a migraine every day for the next 30-some years.

Thanks and keep 'em coming.
Would there be any IT jobs I could do, or would those all be mathy?

Perhaps a historical researcher. All those documentaries that are made about the past dont just pull themselves together. You could collect the information and they can present it. Just an idea anyway.

Well, I know that there are a lot of entry-level editing positions here in the U.S. that only require an undergraduate liberal arts degree, although I don't how it is where you live.

I'm not that knowledgeable about IT jobs, but I know they're not all mathy-- a friend of mine (English major) did tech support and really liked it.
It's also worth checking out your library, as there are a ton of books about career-choosing, many of which contain interesting jobs that no one's ever heard of.

Rynessa,

He's not kidding about the CIA.

Both CIA, FBI and the US Army use people with history degrees.

I'd suggest looking for a job in those areas.

If you can, try to take some more courses and get minors or 2 year degrees in these areas (best ones to have = * ) :

-Foreign Language *
-International Relations *
-International Politics
-International Trade
-Sociology *
-Psychology
-specialized history minor on X region of the world (asia, middle east, etc) *
-Anthropology *

With those skills you can work in the Intelligence field. All you need is to be a US citizen, have no criminal record (includes driving stuff.. some people get rejected because they havent paid a traffic ticket for over 4 months) and be able to pass the security level requirements for the position applying for.
