I've hit a Gold Mine! (hopefully)
Last year, my wife got involved in a network marketing business, selling skin care products. She is very outgoing, and good at meeting people and talking to people. She recruited about 80 downlines. Here is her website:

The products are rather expensive, and she is now finding it to be very hard to keep up with the levels of sales that are required to maintain her rank in order to get her commissions. Her downlines have curtailed their buying, because, although the products are nice, most people really can't continue to spend like Hollywood moguls.
So, we are trying a new one: Ambit Energy, which is new to Illinois. Check out her website:

So far, Ambit is in Texas and New York, and will be opening for business in Illinois on February 8, 2008.
I found this wikipedia article:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stream_Energy
I don't know whether it is the same company by a different name or not.
Anyway, I think that we have probably a better chance to make money on this than on other network market schemes, by virtue of the fact that we are entering the business at the bottom (in our state), and hope to ride to the top.
Another advantage of this business is that there aren't any products to buy and sell. Hopefully, people will sign up as customers to save money on the gas and electricity that they are already using.
Good luck! I'm looking at a number of internet projects to try and get some alterntative streams of income coming in. I'm doing a bit of affiliate marketing for ebay and some others but soon hope to have a little website empire.Havent made much money so far but theres plenty of time
It looks like Ambit is not the same as Stream Energy by a different name. Ambit just got started in October of 2006.
Anyway, my wife signed up one of her friends to be a business builder. And, I was a bit surprised--her website showed two new customers from Texas. This thing hasn't started in Illinois yet. I have no idea who these Texans are--although I can see their names and addresses through my the website. They must have simply found the website and signed up on their own.
We are in Illinois, and people won't have the chance to change their energy companies until next month.
From what I understand, my wife will be making money every month off of anyone who switches their gas or electricity to Ambit, either through her website or through any of her downlines' websites.
