Any one got any advise on how I tell my boss that my job is not not for me and that when I come back from Holiday at the beginning of March I am handing my notice in and leaving????
Any help would be great.

Excuse me, boss...
I must inform you that I don't think this job is for me. I'll be taking holidays and then handing in my notice. I thankyou for the job and the time I have spent here. I am moving on not for any other reason than that this isn't the job for me.

then go take your holidays.
Then hand in your notice.
Then go get another job.

Hi Gazz,

I'm in the process of working out if I should stay or go with the whole job thing.

Completely misinterpretting my colleagues chat, getting strange looks from folk, getting stressed and distracted, but have to pay the old mortgage.

Oh the joys :?

Dear Sir:

First of all let me thank you for the wonderful opportunity of working with you.

Secondly, and sadly, I feel that for personal reasons not disclosed, I must resign my position. This is my two week notice and as of MM/DD/YYYY I will no longer be able to work for the company.

If in any time during the two week span you are able to find a replacement for me, I would be willing to help with his/her training as you see fit during my last two weeks.

Thank you in advance for your understanding in this matter.

Sincerely,

Bob Delabob

I've done the I quit note on a couple of occasions. It is generally understood that 2 weeks is a good amount of time for a resignation. You don't want them to be hanging, and you want to be able to ask for a future referral to your next job. I would make sure to work those 2 weeks (not just be on vacation for them) so that you COULD possibly train someone for them, and that they see you and sticking in there and not "just quitting". Most of my "for reasons undisclosed have been "for medical and personal reasons". Wish you the best.

Don't forecast your intentions. Wait until after your Holiday.

I have seen plenty of bosses fire people for that. The boss will say "Since you are going to leave, leave now. You are fired. Don't bother asking for your job back, or another chance to work here, because I don't trust you anymore.
