So I've an interview for a senior IS position at a place today. Every time I've looked for a job, it's taken me 20-30 different interviews (different places) before I get one. Most likely because of my poor interview skills. I've read all the books, try to follow all the things it says but it is still the hardest thing to do. ugh.


If you any advice on how you get through interviews, what we should disclose, what we shouldn't, etc... let me know.

What specifically do you have a hard time with in interviews?

I wouldn't worry too much about "disclosing" anything during an interview (meaning I wouldn't do it).

I have a whole problem with the "open" questions and of course the whole... I'm trustworthy... really I am even if I don't look directly at you...

you know those... where do you see yourself in 5 years type things... ugh...

just point me at the network and let me go... come get me if you need something fixed right now...otherwise leave alone... give me a budget and I'll come see you every few months and let you know how things are going... in a year or two... you'll have a network you can give an SLA on with 99.9999

The trick with a lot of open-ended questions is to have an answer prepared before-hand and deliver it without sounding too rehearsed. Many of those questions are common.

What is your ideal job?
What are your strengths?
What are your weaknesses?
Describe a time you had to deal with a difficult coworker.
