In the US, the title Special Agent does not imply undercover.
Quote:
Within the United States, the title of Special Agent is used to describe any federal criminal or non-criminal investigator or detective in the 1811, 1801, 2501 or similar job series as so titled according to the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) handbook. Agents are typically educated at least as far as the college undergraduate level. Such persons are usually armed and have the power to arrest and conduct investigations into the violation of federal laws.

It's an interesting job or can be. It can also be extremely dangerous, the danger lasting 24/7. You want to think if you want a job 24/7/365 and may be mostly dangerous AFTER you have moved on but adversaries haven't. Your family might get killed. If you have children, they can be guarded, restricted from certain places, going near windows at night.
IMO, find something else to do.
