I don't like having a job, and have always wanted to be successful without one. Currently I subcontract from home, but it's not lucrative. It requires a lot of time. I am reading a book called "The Four Hour Work Week" which is about creating a production system to replace yourself, and you just manage the system. I'm efficient at managing systems. People frequently comment about my ingenious way of making things flow efficiently by making different choices than anyone would think of. I once took a little course offered by Community Futures for developing a small business.
And the thing I always ram up against is knowing the market, the trends, what people want. When I see what is successful and what people want, I really
just roll my eyes. I'm dismayed.
Pay tv? Frozen convenience meals? Subwoofers in cars? Wall to wall carpet? I could go on. At last after some years of bafflement I can see a point in cellphones, but 90 percent of what people use them for is ridiculous, like asking the wife what to pick up at the grocery store and listing out to her what is on the shelf. What a waste of high tech and lack of intelligent planning. I see it every time I go to a big grocery store, pretty well.
I will have to creatively invent my way out of this brick wall I keep hitting. But I'm also curious about anyone else's thoughts or experiences on this.
