Artist fresh out of college
I'd never posted on this section before but I felt it apt.
Let me describe my education a bit. I'm a graduate of the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, with a Bachelor's of Fine Arts. My major was in comic illustration, where my teachers were Terry Beatty (Ms. Tree), Barbara Schulz (G.I. Joe), Zak Sally (Recidivist), and Diana Green (Omaha). For my internship I studied under Ryan Kelly, working with him on Vinyl Underground, Northlanders: Cross and Hammer, and the final issue of Local (I'm mentioned in the the thank you section of the bound volume).
Comics are my life, and ideally I'd like to find something in this field. Ultimately I'd like to publish my own graphic novels (be a comic novelist if you will), but I'm also interested in work for hire. I feel I'm best as an inker.
I'm trying to cast a wide net through, so I'm also interested in commercial art jobs such as children's books, greeting cards, graphic design, and advertising. I'm trained in all major Creative Suite programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, Dreamweaver, InDesign, etc) and can provide my own equipment. I currently live in the Chicagoland area.
