Anyone gone through this process? How much of a ball-ache is it?

Is this the one that's taken over Incapacity Benefit?
The information talks of "when you get better" etc ... it's really bad, tailored to people who are 'sick' rather than those who have a disability and who are never going to 'get better'.
I think there should be a separate benefit for those who will never 'get better'.
I looked at the information for the benefit but it seems very long-winded and not very sympathetic to people who won't suddenly wake up one morning and announce that they feel great and can go to work.

erm not sure but there's still Disability living allowance.. & the "severe disablement premium" Income support..
Aspergers should be a registered disability & so automatically qualify for DLA. but i have no diagnosis so i'm not sure.

I already get DLA, and this ESA thing is replacing the disabled Income Support and Incapacity Benefit. You can now only get IS if you're pregnant or dying with cancer it seems.

There is a part of ESA that helps with people who have a lifelong condition (The National Autistic Society worked closely with the developers, and there's a part of the questionnaire which deals with social situations and suchlike).
