It's LOUD and shrill and it hurts my ears

She's fed
She's changed
she's burped
she's entertained
she had her anti-gas drops...

DAMN! There's no need for a baby to be THAT LOUD!

Where's the volume knob?

I didn't enjoy my 3 sons' screaming!

I think the following inventions need to be made for those times when you've done everything possible and they just want to scream:

- a cot with a lid on it to drown out the sound

- a volume control with a mute button

We have many highly skilled scientists, computer geeks, inventors, medical professionals etc on WrongPlanet. They need to start working on these inventions ASAP.

Any other ideas for inventions should be posted!

My daughter came out doing that the first day. I went to the doctor several times convinced that something must be wrong. She is autistic, and still has trouble with volume at age four. My doctor said some babies are just loud. I recommend an iPod or some earplugs.

Buy this book...it is a wonderful book and I could not have lived through the first year without it...It helps you decipher all those different types of crying, screaming, etc...and honestly, it works. The worse screams from my kiddo came from tummy aches caused by the milk he drank, we later found out he was allergic and this is what caused the screams...

My daughter makes those high pitch squeel-screams all the time. In fact she's doing it right now, I have a tape on youtube of her doing it.

For her it means she's happy. ^_^

Might try some headphones with noise canceling tech, the technology doesn't work well with human speech but a baby's cry might be enough repetition for it to deal with it.

my nephew had a scream like that. Any time he got hurt, if his parents were there, he would take a long breath and then.........SCREEEEEEEEEEEEM!. I swear to you the sound was paralyzing. So high pitched and loud!! !. Some kids you just wish had a lower vocal register.

ear plugs really do work. They dull the screams but you can still hear enough to be an effective parent

prove that there's no pain first, then you can ignore.

Try sitting her up to sleep. If the screaming is less when sitting up then there's a good chance of an ear infection. Get her to a doctor in that case - it causes permanent deafness if ignored.

calmly hold her for a while, hold her next to your heart.
