So the psych thought he should have a low verbal ability?

If so, I think you need a second opinion because it is common for people with AS to be average-advanced in language but often with atypical language patterns (intonation, formality, usage etc.).

I wouldn;t say he expected it to be low, but he did comment that it was strange that it was good and that comprehension was also good. My son is very wordy and always has been, sometimes takes on accents ... but not always. alot of the time he uses words in the correct way, at the correct time but doesn;t understand them if asked what they mean independently of the sentence hes jsut uttered. I do trust the psych completely, but just trying to understand this aspect of it all.

My ODS' psych report also came back with a higher than average verbal IQ score. There was a 16 point split between verbal/nonverbal, but even the nonverbal score was on the high end of average. He also did very well on the block design, which I read is common in a lot of people with AS. However, he still does not have the dx of AS. We're still stuck with a dx of ODD. It seems the psychs can't see past his 'noncompliance' to see the true issue. The psych even went as far as to say that his anxiety and obsessions were a result of his noncompliance!
