CockneyRebel, I don't know where you are, so I don't know if this would be available to you - but where we are, you can download audiobooks right to your computer or mp3 player from the local public library website for free. We all enjoy them.

Yes to audio books! We've done them for a couple of months (audible.com) and he LOVES them. Audible is like a membership site, which works for us, but as mentioned - you can get them for free elsewhere.

WOW - thank you for that lightbulb!

My daughter has this same writing issue. Her reading isn't as much of a problem but she does have some difficulties there.

BUT I have always had to be doing something with my hands when I'm listening to someone - like in long boring meetings. If I doodle while listening, I remember every word. If I try to look and take notes, forget it. I retain nothing.

I'll have to experiemnt with my daughter and see if any of these tactics work with her. Thank you!
