I write my own stories but I like reading as well...mainly things surrounding my special interests. I just joined the Cetacean Society of America mainly due to the fact that they just released a huge magazine on Orca. I am an Orca freak so I CAN NOT wait to get that. I had it sent to my Mom's in the US so she will send it to me. Also, I see someone mentioned coloring. Coloring is actually very relaxing to me as well, I love the smell of crayons and the way they feel and the way the picture springs to life as you color it. When I was a kid I loved pain and color by numbers.

unwind? i dont have the time =(

past few months have been brutal. summers are the worst because, well frankly because my kids are home and my SO is full time caregiver. he likes to sleep in in the summer so they all end up sleeping in, which means my kids are up bouncing off the walls until midnight or later. our autie still has trouble sleeping and night before last he was up until past 2:30 am, which meant so was i. i still have to get up in the morning for work, so this means i get up, go to work all day, come home to the kids all night, and get absolutely no time to myself. our autie is also greatly increasing in his disruptive behaviors, so we are dealing with a lot of meltdowns and arguments between the kids. this morning i made everyone get up at 8am when i got up, in the hopes i can get the kids onto a more normal schedule, and hopefully get some quiet time after they go to bed.

i have a huge list of things i want to do. used to play mmos but havent had time to log in for about 6 weeks. i just bought some new craft stuff, i want to learn to make beaded jewelry, but dont have time to use it. i started reading again this past spring, but havent touched a book in over a month. hopefully once things wind down in the fall i can pick these things back up.

september cant come soon enough =)

Can you use a schedule board and give them all chores to do? Modify the schedule board so you can put times on it when you want these things to be started or completed. Put a clock of some type next to the board. You can schedule their day like this. Or parts of their day. The clock should be alarm. We have one where you can set multiple alarms.

Maybe have a couple wildcard slots and they can pick an activity from a grab bag or can to fill in?

Believe it or not I read a lot of sci fi and horror. I guess reading about catastrophic, post apocalyptic scenarios makes my life seem pretty good in comparison.

I read a lot of sci fi too. Lately I've been reading a lot of Stephen Baxter.

I've also been getting back into playing guitar lately.

Which Baxter series are you reading?

I think we need a thread on suggested reads. I go through books fast (insomniac) and I am always looking for a good read.

i could, and i have tried this a bit in the past, but my SO is also classic autism, and while he does better himself with a schedule, he generally fails to adhere to one if i am not around to remind him. i even showed him a computer program that will put popups on your monitor to remind you about tasks and appts, but he didnt like that idea.

i have found that the only thing more difficult than trying to get a 5 yo autie to do chores is trying to get a 39 yo autie to do chores =P

Just started Time's Tapestry. I've read nearly all his other stuff. I liked the Manifold books the best, though.
