Should I really be posting in this section?

I'm the most obvious rebel on WP and I'm giving advice to parents. Do you think there's something wrong with this picture, or do you feel comfortable having me in the Parenting section?

You're perfectly welcome here, Mick.

All viewpoints are appreciated. As long as you are respectful, why would it be a problem?

Please keep posting here. I can go to any of the hundreds of forums out there for another parent's opinion, I can get professional opinions out the wazzoo, but here is the only place I've found that can give me an opinion from someone who is actually autistic.

While I value the parents posting here, I also highly value you and the other autistic adults and teens who post here, whether they are or aren't parents. So, as I said earlier, pease keep posting.

To me you are part of the family, In a manner of speaking, CockneyRebel, so I think whether or not you post here is entirely up to what you desire at any given moment. I know you go through this self doubt periodically, but I personally don't think you need to. You are welcome here.

You are completely welcome to post here. There's no rule that you have to be a parent to post in this section.

Like my psychiatrist said to me, he loved having me as a patient because I helped him to learn more about his younger patients. Its sort of the same thing, there are a lot of NT parents who do not understand why their child with Autism is behaving in a way that they are. People with Autism can typically remember what it was like to be a child and why we did the things that we did. I find your posts always to be respectful and helpful, much better than mine most times. I let my emotions get out of hand at times. You should definitely be posting here :)!

I'm new here but I too have enjoyed and valued your input! Please hang out here sometimes. :D As much as I enjoy hearing from experienced parents or parents in the same boat, I love hearing from people who can give me a different perspective and add new insight.

I highly appreciate all the autistic people who post here, as well as the experienced NT moms. Autistic people are not all alike so I need to hear different opinions. When my son was first diagnosed, google brought me to a WP post about discipline. The heart wrenching stories from austics were what I needed to understand my son. I expecially appreciate knowing that taking computer time away is so painful b/c it is my son's only way to relax.

Thank you, all you who post here.
