Hi, my name is Tara and I am a mom to two Aspies!! !

My daughter is 7 and my son will be 5 in January. IN GENERAL they are great kids. It's just so hard to find good advice or people who understand. Most people in my real life don't understand what I go through. They see bright, exceptionally articulate kids and can't understand what I'm talking about! Except for my one friend, who I let do homework once with my dauhgter. She then very quickly understood what I was talking about!! !! !! ! lol!! !! !

I just really need a place I can come to for advice from people who GET IT.

So can I come to your party???

Thanks!

Is your aspie a boy or a girl? I am not sure I'm going to live through these younger years with my daughter...THE ATTITUDE!! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !...I have even less of a clue how I'm making it through puberty and her teenage years!

HI Tara! Welcome! I am fairly new here also but I LOVE IT HERE. I have gotten so much good advice in the past few months from here that I wish I had found it sooner.

My son is 6 AS/ADHD.

Again welcome.

Hi and welcome to WP! This is a good place to be. It's a fairly active board, you won't always get immediately response to posts but there are many people on here everyday. I personally have found more good advice here than anywhere else. I have an 8 yo NT and a 5 yo ASD, both boys :)

Hi! I've gotten a lot of valuable advice on here! I go in spurts of lurking and posting on here. It's always the first place I go when I have a real question about Asperger's!

Hi!
I joined a month ago and my son 4 1/2 is being evaluated for AS.

I know exactly what you mean about others seeing a bright, articulate kid who is just a little 'quirky' but nothing more! However, if they babysit him or spend time doing something more in depth (very few have done that--one babysitter, his teacher), then only do they know what I am talking about!

This is a GREAT place to bounce questions off people. Very helpful.

Welcome :)

My NT 8yo daughter has had attitude since the day she was born. She's way more challenging to me, overall, than my aspie 9yo son (although my son can be incredibly frustrating to me and he definitely has his challenges). I also have an 11yo NT son.
