Let's look at Jenny McCarthy's resume...

- Jenny McCarthy is the model who appeared in Playboy magazine in October 1993.

- Playmate of the Year in 1994

- Former MTV host.

-J une 2007: Talk About Curing Autism named McCarthy as spokesperson for their organization with her first fundraiser scheduled for October 20, 2007 in Irvine, CA.

- Jenny McCarthy she is an `Indigo child' while her son Evan is a `Crystal child.'

[Back in 1999, Lee Carroll and his wife Jan Tober wrote and published a book entitled "The Indigo Children: The New Kids Have Arrived." Carroll insists that the information was gotten via conversations with a spiritual entity known as Kryon. First the Indigo Children arrived on earth and then, in 2000 -- according to Carrol, Tober and Kryon -- the Crystal Children began to appear.]

- McCarthy says if you wear a piece of jewelry with a gem known as "mission purple eagle" you will not be afflicted with autism .... regardless of whether you had autism before you wore the jewelry or you are merely taking precautions not to 'catch' autism.

Catch autism???

- Jenny says autism is caused by the mother? She has stated that gastrointestinal infections in autistics proves that they are suffering from an imbalance and that imbalance is caused by the poor quality gut flora passed on from the mother to the baby while the baby is in utero. She has stated that you can counterbalance that with probiotics which will CURE autism.

Ooops .... Jenny McCarthy's 5-year-old son, Evan, is still autistic despite all these wonderful CURES she is promoting in her book. Who could have imagined THAT ever happening?

I read the book. I like that she's putting autism in the public, but I'm not sure that people are understanding. I, too, disagree with the fact that her son is "cured." Also, she does believe that the shots caused his autism, when he had symptoms before the shots. Personally, I tend to lean toward heredity or a combination of factors. I do not believe it's simply shots. In addition, she implied that having autism would "ruin" her son or make him unacceptable. The fact that he is "cured" makes her able to accept him.

People who are not educated about autism may take her information as fact, which could create (and has created) a misinformed society. I have been approached with the, "Why aren't you feeding him a gluten-free diet?" and "You should seek intensive therapy to cure his Asperger's," and it ticks me off.

So, I did enjoy reading the book, but I didn't agree with everything she wrote.

My Mom bought this book for me when I became convinced that Sophie was on the spectrum. It was alright, it pointed me in the direction of DAN! protocol which I then read up on. I think she stated several times that nothing works for everyone. I did not walk away thinking that my child could be "cured" but rather that she may well have some issues that I didn't know about that could be aided.
Anyone who thinks autism can be cured because Jenny McCarthy says so really, really needs to learn not to believe everything they read.

I have nothing against pretty girls. I married one, but the difference is, she has brains! I'm sorry, but some people wear copper bracelets to cure arthritis. It doesn't work, but it makes them feel better about it.

Autism is not a disease. Ms McCarthy of the big....er....egos, should have to write that on a wall in a public place about a million times. Besides, who said here son was autistic? Did she look at some strange behavior and say Oh, MY GOD, he's autistic?.

Sorry, but I don't even agree with some of the people who have credentials in the field. They don't live inside my head.

I don't think Ms. McCarthy knows what autism is. But hell, she made millions on a totally misinformed book.

I'm sure that Jenny McCarthy's son is much improved, but I just saw him on TV the other night with his mom, watching a gorgeous Christmas tree being lit, and he had little reaction. He's really cute, but he reminds me of my son when he was little -- not a lot of response to thing that NT kids would go crazy over.

Hey, I've got a 21 year old who would have fallen on the spectrum like crazy when he was little -- is he cured? No. Is he pretty much fine in an NT world? Yeah. But there are still bumps in the road. There will be bumps in the road for our younger son as well. I think that Jenny will be finding out that her "cure" isn't that long-lasting, that maybe she's talked herself into believing he's cured because she wants that so badly. I'm sure that she loves her beautiful little boy just the way he is, and she better get used to that, because there are some things that won't change over the years.
