I showed the videos to my son while he was taking his bath. As soon as the intro started he froze and was entranced, something about the drums gets his attention. He made me play them over and over.... I played them after a Mr. Bubble commercial so at first he thought it had something to do with Mr. Bubble and asked to see the "Mr. Bubble refrigerator video again". I like the one with the elephant brushing his teeth but wish the picture took up more of the screen, it's a little hard to make out what he's doing. The one that focuses on choosing is funny, there's something wrong with all the choices! My son mistook that one for interactive and tried to touch the screen to make his choices on that one.

My son won't tolerate the shower, he's scared of it and he almost never willingly lets me wet his hair. The only way I can safely wash his hair is with a wet wash cloth or by counting to three and quickly dumping a bowl of bath water over his head. He fights it and tries to take the bowl from me, it's scary because I'm afraid he's going to slip in the tub and hurt himself one of these days. There have been a few times when he willingly has dumped a bowl of water over his own head though because he was copying something he saw in a video, I don't remember what it was though.

That's great, I'm glad he liked the videos!

Thanks for the feedback, too. We are working on a couple of new ones right now and will probably upload them tomorrow.

Do you want us to make a video of someone just washing his hair the regular way in the hopes he will try to copy it? It could be part of our "life instructions" series.

We will pretty much consider any requests; our goal is to have 100 videos online by mid-year. 8O

That's a lot of videos, how did you come up with the goal to make 100? 8O Yes, a video of a kid having fun getting his hair wet would be great. I think the video he was copying before was one of the bubble bath commercials or something similar, the kid only got his hair wet for one small part of the video and I think my son was making me play the whole thing over and over just to get to that one small part. I tried to show him a Sesame Street video of Ernie washing in the tub after your videos, he wasn't happy about the video change.

Is there any format you think would work better for him? Using drawings, or toys? I don't think I'm going to put a video of one of my kids in the shower on YouTube...

The reason we set the goal at 100 videos is because we are trying to do this as a business. My wife can't work outside the home right now so we came up with doing this. We've been tossing around ideas for a while and finally went out and bought a Bamboo tablet and some new audio gear.

We are already signed up as YouTube partners and are hoping people will like and share the videos on Facebook etc.

BTW thanks for letting me know some of the pics were too small. We usually watch YouTube on our big TV in the living room and were going for that format and the videos are all HD. We weren't really thinking about people watching the videos on smaller devices like Smartphones so we will take that into consideration for future videos.

I don't blame you, I wouldn't either. I could probably find something appropriate if I keep looking, I don't like watching people's home videos on YouTube though. I noticed you fixed the size issue on a couple of the videos. He saw the elephant video again and this time got out our stuffed elephant friend and acted out the video with him pretending he was brushing his teeth (and ears and nose) with his finger. He seems to like both formats but I think he's more likely to want to wash a toy's hair than his own if it's a toy. I now know that my son would prefer a green Santa, a too bouncy rubber ducky and a too long pencil.... I don't know if you have any control over the video suggestions YouTube makes after watching your videos or if that's something that straightens itself out over time but it was giving me a lot of inappropriate suggestions.

Thanks! Yes, the Mrs. replaced the size of those videos with bigger ones. There should also be a couple of new ones on there now.

We were looking though the kids' toys to see which ones had washable hair. We are thinking of using a stuffed lion but maybe it will be drawings if you think that will work better for your son. Might be better for other kids, too...

I will look into the suggestions, I think that might have something to do with categorization, I noticed the sidebar has "similar channels" that are not similar at all.

Wow, thanks! :D I just showed it to him - he wasn't in the tub at the time so I don't know if he'll follow the steps. For sensory issues there's no way he's going to try the shower or hair dryer ... but you should know after watching that he asked to see your refrigerator video again and after it was over he said "I'm going to go wash my hands now!" He got up went to the bathroom and washed his hands and then asked for the refrigerator video again. :)

Great, glad I have a fan and glad the video is having a positive effect! Some people have told me they thing that fridge is creepy...all the voices in that video are me, I just changed the pitch of my voice.

Hope it works out with the hair washing, I think I just said "wet your hair" so it doesn't have to be the shower specifically.

You did, I didn't notice the first time around and there is a towel dry in there I also didn't notice til he played it again. And he did play it again along with a bunch of the others. The refrigerator is creepy but we have a somewhat warped sense of humor so we think it's hilarious that way. My husband was also in the room the first time it played and it caught him off guard when he heard the "don't touch me...." but laughed when heard it was "because your hands are dirty".

Yeah basically we were trying to make the hair washing video applicable for any kid.

Sounds like we need to make a follow-up to the mean fridge!

If you can think of anything else that might be good for your son let me know, we are getting good at cranking these out.

Maybe something about not running out into the street? I'd look forward to see a follow-up to the mean fridge! I'm not kidding or exaggerating ... my son woke me up this morning asking to see that refrigerator video again. He's been acting out several of them.
Edit: Also taking turns and try new foods

Ok great, thanks! Those are all excellent ideas. Got a few others in the pipeline but we can start work on those within the next few days.

Maybe the "mean fridge" will be the next Annoying Orange?
