We got our son's evaluations for Kindergarten in the mail today (we still have another meeting to do). His results were dominated by terms like "very poor, below average, clinically significant, low" ... There were a few "averages" in there but you get the idea. The only real highlight is that his letter-word identification abilities are in the top 99.9% for his age group but he was compared to a 1 and a half year old in other areas. Not a very fun read but it's what I was expecting, I would have been more concerned had his issues been overlooked.
Yeah, my son gets similar results. The only thing he scores in the average range is gross motor...he starts kindergarten this year as well. The program he will be in is a partnership with an autism school so it's the closest thing we are going to get to outside placement without a huge war with the school.
He is finally going to be getting home-based ABA, starting this week. It took forever to find someone that my insurance would accept that did not have a waiting list. They evaluated him and said that his biggest issue (aside from the sensory stuff) is lack of joint attention so they are going to work on that before anything else as he really can't learn much at all without joint attention. I am hoping for the best with this.
