:D I know!! Can't imagine where he gets it from!!

Thank you everyone who has taken the time and trouble to click in and to send so many positive comments, I have just managed to prize the guitar off him and he has gone to bed at last! It means so much to him that you are all supporting him and encouraging him. The spectrum is a beautiful place to be if you can find that special talent that WE ALL have somewhere, it's just that it takes time to find it.

All my children have different talents and gifts, my youngest son is a whizz on mobile phones and engines whilst my ADD 21yr old is a world champion gig racer (that's a special Cornish boat like a canoe for open sea racing).....my oldest son a brilliant creative chef...its diverse the amount of talent they all have between them and it's not just MY kids it's ALL of them without exception.

Thank you Wrong Planeteers, as per usual you have come up trumps. I show David every comment on this thread and although he says he is embarrassed I know he is secretly delighted....it's his smile when he reads the thread.

jellibean and David -- totally enjoyed the guitar riff! It was great. Keep it up -- I completely expect to see the name David Evans in some big band in the future!

Very talented. You have every reason to be extremely proud of him. He has found his passion. Most of us don't. What a great life he is going to have.

Thank you so much Kuma, I have passed your message on and hopefully he will adopt my username and post, he won't register himself as he says he doesn't want to big himself up! Aspies eh! :D

Marshall Amplification are keeping him alive right now. School have totally let him down, he got his guitar confiscated last week. Now in his final year he is refusing to go back. What the school are doing to him is just - well you couldn't make it up. I have posted on another thread in Autism politics as to what is happening.

They say at school to concentrate on subjects as he won't ever make it as a guitarist! Cheers school how to destroy an Aspie in 10 seconds.

But thank you everyone here for your support and encourgement. It really MEANS HEAPS, he is the best lad you could ever wish to have, I am soooooo proud of him I could burst! :D

I'm sorry to hear that. We've had a terrible year with my son's school, particularly my youngest child's teacher. She had it in for him and the other gifted kids. I'm glad it's over but she may have started a cycle of bullying among the kids. We've got a new principal and it seems like the teachers are at war trying to resist her changes.

I bet you'll find other talents your son has. People who are good at music are often very good at math, something to do with the way the brain processes them both (not always the case, but often). Lots of people with gifts in math never find out until later in life or ever because math is so poorly taught. You might want to think about introducing him to the creative side of math. There is an awsome book by a guy named Cohen called "Calculus for Kids" and it's really fun.
