I thank all of you for sharing your experience, opinions, insights and advice!! I wish I could convey how much y'all are helping my entire family in mere words of thanks. It is wonderful to not feel so alone any more.

Tracker, your clarity has put what's been going on into a much more understandable perspective for me. (Even through my lack of giving background) The info and your insights are most welcomed and what I needed to understand. I think now it will be less "world shaking" when those situations occur, and I'll be able to be even more understanding and not compound his stress by adding my fright or dismay to the situation.

I'll read every link suggested. I appreciate the time and effort taken.

"it isn't really your job to fix the problem, as more it is your job to convince your son to fix his problem for himself." ~ Tracker ........ I've taken this to heart.

I wanted to follow up here because I had a consult with a psych and he told me something very interesting. That SSRI's have been known to cause "spaciness", "disassociative episodes", and even visions and hallucinations as a side effect. I mention this because looking back I realize these episodes with my own daughter could have been side effects of some SSRIs we tried with her. Now I am tring to go through and figure out what may be side effects with regard to my daughter's behavioral history.

So, if your son is on an SSRI or other psych med you might want to look at these episodes as possible side effects.

Hope all is well.
