Don't worry guys - my m-i-l has the cure.

It's my lack of discipline - proper discipline and - cure!

Also, she knows the cure for depression (which I have suffered on and off though I'm very good now) ... drum roll as cure is announced ....

Clean your house.

I got depressed because there were dirt marks on my kettle and toaster. If I'd had more pride and kept the house clean I wouldn't have got depressed.

It's so good to rant ...

Do you want me to adopt you? I have 3 sons (1 aspie, 1 suspected aspie - currently going through diagnostic process) already, 1 more shouldn't make too much difference.

 If the government funded cleaners for all domestic households, they could close all the Psychiatric Hospitals because everyone would be cured!

This would save governments money, because paying for cleaners is cheaper than running hospitals and paying Dr's salaries.

Now they've I've solved that problem .... I'll move onto the Middle East crisis.

Don't be too harsh on your MIL Smelena :)

It holds truth for me, I am extremely depressed by the dirt of my house (I might post some before and after pictures, would motivate me to tidy ) I just can't bring myslef to tidy up after 3 dirty students who care less about the world than what there DnD character rolled last night.
I guess they just don't care about the real world.
To emphasise this point, I nearly lost it at them yesterday for total voter apathy. It was local elections, and they decided they wouldn't vote, and having buried my bollot slip in with all of there trash I spent an hour trying to find it!

Surely students should care about the voting, especially as they are still living in this ward next year, and I am moving to the adjacent one :)

I'm just venting. I use exaggeration to help get things off my chest.

Do you want to come and clean my house?

If you pay for the flight I'll come and clean it everyday for at least a year, teach the boys science and outdoors skills and even cook!

Truth be told, I wasn't sincere with those words, they were the lead up to my point that she thinks she is right because some people do have depressed bouts due to mess.

Great. Are you good at gardening? We're on 2.5 acres.

And if you can show me how to put up my %$# tent properly that would be nice.

I could probably show you the tent over the internet... tell me the model and make and I'll look it up and draw you a diagram.
Not sure about gardening - my dads good at it, but I always forget to water stuff, then remember when its brown and curled up!

I could sometimes kill my mother and so my sister :-) But I won't. I'll just let her pass away but as stubborn as she is, it will probably take a couple of decades. She just pissed me off yesterday so I called my sister, and she was equaly pissed because of the rants.

Perfect topic :-)

I like this thread, I keep coming back to it.

Last week my kids spent a couple nights with my father and step-mother. Bubba was having a terrible week and I probably should have known better than to take him there, but he is usually "better" for them and on Friday my husband and I drove 2 hours to go see Dr. Jed Baker speak (well worth the trip).

When my husband picked up Bubba on Saturday, my husband got an earful. My parents told him how horrendous Bubba's behaviour had been. That he was "punishing" my step-mother for paying too much attention to Bubba's little sister. That he said hateful things, just to upset her and he delibrately threw things around and knocked things over. My husband felt like they were attacking our parenting skills and telling us that our child was manipulative and just an all out bad kid.

They are reading about AS and are not convinced Bubba has it. They think he has ADHD and "one of those other ones with all the initials." I am not sure when my alcoholic step mother became a developmental pediatrician, but apparently she has.

I will not have someone, anyone tell me that a 5 year-old is purposefully hateful and manipulative. He does not mean for his behaviour to hurt anyone, he is only reacting to his surroundings and his feelings the only way he know how. We are trying to teach him more appropriate ways to deal with his feelings, but it takes time.
