yeah, I'm glad they come by in a way because it motivates me to clean, it'd be a REAL mess if no one ever came over, lol. It's just my boyfriend and his grandfather that come over from time to time, so it's not too bad, and I know them very well, lol.

My old house used to drive me absolutely nuts-my ex was in AA and he would randomly invite 5-10 people over without saying anything to me, so the house would be a mess and all these people I didn't know would pour in. That was pretty good motivation though to clean-as long as I was cleaning I didn't have to talk to them, or go near them, lol. I'd just be "cleaning" whatever room they weren't in.

Gah, that place drove me absolutely nuts, every time everyone would leave I'd be so worked up I'd wind up in the bathroom sick after they all left, and I was constantly shuffling around praying none of them would say hi to me, lol. It was always nice when the ones I did know were there too-we'd go to whatever side of the house the others were NOT on (i.e. if they were all out back we'd go sit out front) and talk, as they knew I didn't cope well in situations like that and they would get me involved in conversations about my bracelet making or about the kids-things I could get absorbed in talking about so I wouldn't feel as bad while everyone was there :) it was kind of entertaining seeing 2 guys asking how my friendship bracelet making was going and offering tips on designs and such I should try just to keep me focused on it, lol. They also helped with dinner and stuff so I wasn't left stumbling all over myself trying to cook for 10 people while under all the stress of them just being there, lol.

bleh, wow, I veered way off topic there >.< sorry-mind was goin.

We just wait for people to come over and do the mad dash cleaning for a week in advance. We, don't know many people around here to just have people stop over.

My parents from MN are coming in 3 more days. I have sooooooooooo much to do yet, and am getting burnt out. I guess cleaning the carpets too doesn't help. (Their not that dirty, just decided they should all be clean before they get here).

I'm lucky when my bf and his grandfather come around-they always call at least 2 hours in advance. If they show up unnannounced I can't talk at all, I just look completely stunned the whole time they are here, lol-they picked up on that quick.

My bf now has even gotten to the point of planning times to stop by 3-4 days in advance because he knows how much someone just dropping by bothers me :P

Ugh, carpets are no fun. Now that isn't anything I've made an index card for-I *should* probably add that to my list of things to make cards for (yes, I have a list as well as the cards, ROFL!) and do it once a month or so-we have lots of kool-aid stains >.<

That sounds like me! Every couple of months I say to my husband, we'd better invite some friends around so we can get motivated to clean the house.

It's probably judgemental of me .... but when I first meet someone, if they're house is spotlessly clean I think we're probably not going to end up good friends!

I have 2 good friends are equally slobby to me. It's great seeing the state of their house mirroring my own.

I have a household tip for your website/magazine ... we don't have dogs, but people that do let the dogs in after dinner to lick up all the crumbs/mess off the floor. Dogs - a labour saving device!

LOL! My mom does that-she runs a shelter for abandoned collies and abused ones, rehabs them and adopts them out. Mom always says they don't want to leave after they've been there for a while, but ESPECIALLY when the kids and I go by to visit because of all of the goodies on the floor all the time, lol. The ones the REALLY seem to enjoy it, she tries to match up to homes with kids :)

okay, so if we did a magazine type of thing... maybe it should just be a website-easier to manage/figure out, lol. While the forums are great, I come across a lot of topics that are similar, or wind up turning into similar discussion, so it would just be a more "sorted" compilation of advice in areas maybe?

I'd have to PM people of course and make sure they don't mind me using their advice, etc. to form it, but it would be kind of cool to have a place with just advice overall, and I really enjoy sifting through things and organizing them, so it would be somewhat the same thing-to sort through and find similar topics then sort advice from talking within them, etc....

Just put them into a site with main menus, etc.-am I makin sense or just planning it out right here? lol, I can't tell if everything I'm thinking is actually coming out... I probably should actually form a new thread about it, lol, but this one switched semi quickly, so I guess it works.

Does anyone have an idea of something they would want to see on something like that?

(and am I allowed to post about making a separate more organized site for info???)

We do something like this in my AS support group. The last meeting before summer we put together a "book a good ideas" It really does help to have something on hand. I hope it never happens, but what if the power goes out?

Outstanding plan.

We tried a nothing on the floor rule.
After she asked if the bed and furniture could stay on the floor,
we changed it to no toys on the floor, and gave her a bunch of hanging
mesh "condos and hotels" that we bought in Ikea for her animals.

It is working pretty well, only a few toys "jumped out".

:D
