I find it more than just deeply unsettling that you have indicate dmore than once your husband gets to make all the decisions in your relationship, and has the final say on things.

I can relate. I'm an aspie mother with an aspie husband and at least one of my two children has AS, we don't know about the baby yet. I'm also a college student. The perfumes don't usually bother me much, unless it is a harsh cologne. Bright lights are annoying, more so if I am already stressed. Crowds are horrid, but my worst issue there is with shopping malls and stores. The worst for me is sound. I hate even moderate noise once a few things mingle together.

I've resolved myself to the fact that I can complain all I want and the only place it gets me is frustrated further. No one cares, unless they're feeling it too, and most people don't feel like I do. I do what I can to minimize my stress and find ways to cope with the rest.

I'm not Aspie (although I definitely have some traits!), and I wear sunglasses ALL the time. Not in my house or other people's homes - but everywhere else and most definitely on campus at the kids' school. It's all just too overwhelming otherwise. In my case, the school are all buildings outside connected by hallways - but there's just so many parents there and noise!! I typically drop my kids off at the front of the school in the parking lot in the morning, and then I have them walk to my car in the afternoon. (I park on a street right in back of the school so that they don't have to cross any streets to get to me, but I don't meet them on campus either unless I'm forced into it.)

I go to school as well (at night), and I know what you mean - by the time my whole day is over, with dealing with school, homework for the kids, the parents at the dance studio where my daughter trains, etc...by the time I get to MY class, I'm spent and not really interested in being friendly and socializing. I do what I can - which is study really hard and learn. It's hard though!

I have to walk my autistic 6 year old in to her classroom EVERY morning and I also go in every afternoon to pick her up.(Single parent) Also have AS but her teachers and therapists are who told me I seem to be an aspie so they all know. However I "use her" as my cop-out excuse to other people who know nothing about AS or autism. I tell them that "the cars and the crowds make her unconfortable." (which they may do, so it's not a complete and total lie. see how I tried to justify that )I take her in 15 min. late every morning and pick her up 15 min early. Theres a LOT LESS chaos in the halls and the parking lot at that time. The princapal caught me in the hall one time and asked me about her excessive tardiness (after sending tons of letters home which I ignored of course) and when I used the "Car-crowd-cop-out"She was very cool about it and even educated herself on Autism a lot more than she previously had. Theres 2 Autism classes at her school and everyone there has been very supportive. Shes been going there for 2 years now. This morning when I took her in she was on the big "Shining Stars of her school" bulliten board for the first time. Under her adorable picture it says shes "Very Independent and loves to sing"

got to be careful about coming in late/ dismissing child early.......some school systems have enforced that excessive tardiness/ excessive early departures = absences. too many absences & the child doesn't get to move forward into the next grade.

That would be honestly an annoyance. Where we live, the kids that get the bus are dismissed at 2:15pm where town kids are dismissed at 2:20pm and I have to pick up my son by taxi on Tuesdays and well can only do so much about whether the taxi gets their a little earlier/later than expected. When I get there around between 2:10-2:20, most of the kids are sitting on the couches in the class with their bags and all ready to go.

Indeed, the only way it should be an absent is if the child is really late to get there/really early to leave.

from what i understand about the policy, the school systems in question have been having problems with student attendance~ too many kids coming in late & leaving early. this drastic measure was enforced in my kids school system this past year.

Kids should only get held back if they are failing all or most of their subjects.

Even so, they were either there or they weren't.

Well, if they are failing at least 60% of their subjects, then serious thought should be given to having them repeat a year. Also, severe emotional immaturity in comparison to the rest of the class could be a reason to hold them back but as far as I understand, it is not popular to keep children down a grade any more.

I see what you mean. Though on the other hand, I'm very much a 'Treat the cause, not the symptom' myself.
