do you think the school should be handing him a picture card to stop hitting himself? we've had problems with our son hitting teachers, etc. maybe he's hitting himself at school more as an alternative to hitting them. this behaviour is obviously bothering them but in a way it's better he does this to himself than them, unless he's going to do himself some harm of course!

we came close to him being excluded from school a few weeks back due to him hitting teachers!

i think for your own sanity , you need to find out how often son is hitting himself during the school day....is this an emergency card, or is this card used way too frequently?....i think the staff has the right to help your child & manage their classroom at the same time. escalating behaviors can be very confusing for NT children ( i'm assuming that your son is in a mainstream class?).

I would suggest that something is really stressing him at school. Hitting teachers, now harming himself, would all seem to me to be signs of sensory overload. I would explore with the teachers exactly when these behaviors are occurring in the hopes of identifying and then mitigating the triggers. And don't accept any, "well he MUST learn" answers. If he can't handle something, he can't handle something, and the situation needs to be altered.
