hard time coping
Yah, my wife and I go to an Asperger's support group once a month sposored by the Alabama Autism Society. We open each meeting going around telling something funny our kids did. It really helps us all see the humour that is sometimes masked by being so close to the situation. Its also great to finally have something in common with other parents.
there are 2 local support groups~ both for parents, not spouses.........unfortunately, one meets during the day, and the other meets on the night that son has his therapist appt & other 2 kids have scouts ( scouts are in 2 different locations across town from each other ). son's school also has a parent support group, but they never meet on the same night~ so far, they've met on the night I have my therapist appt, the night i have my grad school class, and the night my son has his therapist appt.......i've expressed to the school that i would really LOVE to go to a group, but scheduling them in has been impossible so far. grad school has ended now, so hopefully i'll be able to make the next meeting.
