I think we need to find ways to do both. Not take school all that seriously, but learn the skills including negotiating the system, so the door is open to go into a profession. At the same time, do much of the real learning on our own.

Well good news guys... he got his first set of results back from music. His solo performance piece got him an A. We'll be finding out how he did in his orchestral piece later this week, or the start of next. But the boost to his confidence has been quite dramatic.
