She has OT 1x/week and sees a counselor 1x/week. She won't really open up to the counselor though.

She does chew as her stim. She used to have chewy necklaces (we have a lot of them) but I think someone made fun of her for it and now she won't chew a necklace. She chews her shirts. They all have gaping holes in the neckline.

Here is the link in case you want to try these http://kidcompanions.com/ they are awesome. I got my son who is 9 with Asperger's one of the round ones and my daughter (6 year old classic autism) a pink heart. They are also a fidget toy, the hearts have a little spot that their finger fits into and they can rub. It comes in a break away necklace and there is also a clip on strap....I think the necklace is more socially acceptable. I wish I had one of these when I was a kid and I have been toying with the idea of getting myself one because I totally destroy my nails and the skin around my nails.

Also they ship anywhere. I got my daughters on Amazon and sent it to my Mom and she shipped it to me. I found the site and it cost far less to buy my sons.....it was 20 euro including shipping. They are a Canadian store.

Seems so lame.. But, I'm remembering a Toopy and Binoo show. Where Binoo was having nightmares and Toopy told him to blow raspberries at the monsters when they appear and they *poof* go away.

How about creating a social story that addresses some of these individual fears and practice blowing raspberries. Or something similar.
