Yes, I can get the information to her, but considering that I said that the woman didn't wan to go public with this, this poster joins and their first post on here is in answer to this and offering help, uses her name in a public forum, I'm not exactly sure that shows trustworthiness.

I know that if I were this woman I would certianly not want someones help who didn't respect my privacy. Mods, can you please edit the posts to remove the name of this woman who isn't on this forum??

That's what I thought when I read it and was hoping I was wrong. That is creepy.

"Earth Religions Legal Assistance Network."

Never heard of them. Dunno if it's dodgy or not, but it's hard to be too careful.

It does remind me of something I should have known, though.

Check out The Witches' Voice, if they're still up on the Internet. They don't like me over there-- Jesus-loving Pagans are not well-liked in any organized religious circles-- but they do have a lot of information about self-defense in situations like this and about where to go for help.

Yeah, they're still around. Link---> http://www.witchvox.com/

Sorry for my cynicism. I'd like to not see life that way, but I do. It's a disgusting, sick, puking injustice and I hope it can be set right. Good luck. Gods all bless.

That is sick.

Do we remove children because the parents are christian? So why would we remove them because of any other religion?

Will we ever learn to just accept? :(

The Wiccans are now suing Alabama DHR.

I just got off the phone with a fellow who is spearheading the lawsuit. He's Pagan and is going to also start a fund to help Pagan families who need any kind of help, kind of like Catholic Charities. Yay! That's a very important thing to do. He also has a son with AS and I've asked him to join WP and told him about this thread. He will if there is a mobile app for it (bad internet where he's at).

He's setting up a fund to help this particular family, and the ASD son is 14 but low functioning. He's about like a 7yo. This boy needs to be back home ASAP.

I think this mother should contact a lawyer, not only to get her children back, but to sue the DHR for religious persecution. We do have a Constitutional Amendment protecting our right to practice whatever religion we want. As long as her religion does not harm anyone, which Wicca does NOT, they cannot use that as a reason to take her children...much less keep them! I will keep her and her children in my prayers.

Just poking my nose into a slightly dated topic.

I kinda think they are going against the first amendment, but then its more about the establishment of laws regarding religion and freedom of speech etc.

But Alabama's Constitution states:

Quote:
Religion Clauses

Article I, section 3.

That no religion shall be established by law; that no preference shall be given by law to any religious sect, society, denomination, or mode of worship; that no one shall be compelled by law to attend any place of worship; nor to pay any tithes, taxes, or other rate for building or repairing any place of worship, or for maintaining any minister or ministry; that no religious test shall be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under this state; and that the civil rights, privileges, and capacities of any citizen shall not be in any manner affected by his religious principles.

I think your friend needs to pay special attention to that part I highlighted in bold.

Tell her best of luck!
Jen

I'm disgusted to read about this. I understand that some people are afraid to challenge The Man, but I think she should go to the media. The story would spread like wildfire, and I have no doubt that she'd get her kids back fast.
