My daughter is UNAWARE of her own hygiene. But if I tell her she is stinky and needs a shower, she will take one. I still have to reach in and wash her hair, but I'm teaching her how to use the soap and scrub properly etc... I test her every once in awhile by getting her really dirty before the shower either with actual dirt, or with a washable marker. Then I stick her in the shower and tell her to wash till she is clean. If she comes out still "dirty" like yesterday (her feet were filthy) she goes back in and scrubs again. This helps her motor skills too as "Scrubbing" is still super awkward looking and ineffective. I wish someone had done something for me when I was a kid. I NEVER showered. I was really greasy. I don't remember if my mom said anything or not. But when I was finally maybe a senior in highschool, or might have even been college I can't recall something clicked and I started showering at least every other day fall-spring and twice a day in the summer.

I only got to twice a day if there was some big event in the evening or I had gone swimming or something.

Every day when it's hot. Almost every day when it's not. I have to be careful on vacations when my routine is broken because I can easily let it slide if I get started on my interests first thing in the morning.

It's part of my morning routine on work days, so that takes care of it much of the time.
