And one big factor why it's counterproductive is that the OP has only responded defensively to two responders here. Some of us have asked genuine questions and offered support and gone ignored. The OP is also unaware that we welcome non-parents here.,

The fact that he has ignored most replies in favor of arguing with TheFace makes me think he isn't here for support. Just a thought. I waited it out.

All right , contacting the girl might not be a good idea, sorry I don't know people too well yet.

I still do not understand something, what sort of threat was it? Cause the OP only mentions a "threating email" I think that could mean anything, if it was a direct death threat then it would be impossible to get understanding from anyone, but what if it was something else?

aspies who are not parents can often offer some great insights into our children's behavior.

i, along with many others, would like to know the general context of this threatening email....

They let him take a medical withdrawal and then after a year he can go back or he can go anywhere now. Not a bad deal, it could have been much worse.

You may think that he is not a threat, but what do the students at the University think. He should of been arrested and prosecuted if you ask me.

I think he probably is not a threat. I don't know him so I can't say for sure either way, and neither do you. I simply prefer not to go with definitives and to apply common sense. Obviously the school feels the same way based on their decision.

I'm glad everything worked out.

That seems more than reasonable. It's more lenience than I would have granted.
At the risk of reopening a discussion, I do want to take issue with this, I think:

We went to the judicial office and discussed his behavior and AS but I am not sure what they will do.

So did you blame his behavior on AS, or not? Because to me, there are two ways you can go with this: firstly, that what he did was because of AS. I would disagree with that - Asperger's in no way excuses a threatening E-mail. Or that his AS wasn't a factor, in which case... he has no excuses. Either way, I'm afraid that had it been me, assuming that the threat was one of violence, I would have thrown him out and not allowed him to return.
Terroristic threats toward women (or anyone) aren't acceptable, period. There's no excuse for them, and I hope he understands that he's had more leniency than he deserves in this. You don't threaten people. Period.

Yeah, geez, if everything we said was taken as a threat, I'd be in trouble...I know that some people just overreact...it's a little ridiculous if you ask me. I can get angry and say "I could kill you", but I don't mean "I could kill you...", I actually mean, "If I could do something to get you to stop, I'd do it...so just STOP!"...but that does not in anyway mean I'm going to kill anybody.

Honestly, I think society is way too hung up on what anyone says...People are so darn sensitive about everything...I've never been "threatened" because I've never done anything to anyone to specifically tick them off so bad that they would want to threaten me...

And yes, I agree that he needs to stay away from that girl...Seems nowadays, antyhing a woman says is believed by the cops...and anything a man says is NOT believed by them. Women can make up excuses as to why they killed their children and people will actually be sympathetic to them...men? Well, they'll end up in jail or dead.

So, just tell him to stay away from girls...especially dweebs that harrass him and then go complain to authorities...

I don't think we can really help unless we know what the "threat" was and how much contact he had with this girl. I mean, some Aspies here have been accused of threatening for drawing pictures of violence or holding up stuff. Some have been accused of stalking when they were just trying to talk or stare too much.

There could be more to the story and perhaps this young man needs to let someone check his email to see if he wasn't being harassed first.
Some girls make vexatious allegations just for the fun of it. I think it's necessary to get both sides of the story.

It annoys me no end when vexatious allegations are made because then when a girl is truly being harassed and threatened, they are likely to be met with scepticism.

It was probably true that this lad did not understand that making a "threat" was inappropriate behaviour but he might not have seen it as a threat. I think a stern warning would be more appropriate than expulsion for a first offence.
