I sure will, and whenever I get called a pharashill on Twitter. :) Which is like everytime I tweet it then it shows up in the who to follow bar. I'm remembering why I rarely go on twitter other than to follow up on some people who are only on twitter who I really wish where not only on twitter, maybe on WP.

Ha ha ha who tells you these proofs? Governments bought by pharmaceuticals . Otherwise how can you explain this epidemic? Genes, pesticides or a combination of the two ?

Also, the evidence that vaccines do not cause autism come from many (and I mean dozens and dozens, if not hundreds) of different independent studies conducted all over the world. If you had actually read any of the links I provided you would see that for yourself. Your level of paranoia suggests you may be mentally ill or perhaps a troll. I hope whatever your issue is that you get some help so that your child can get the care they need.

Hello lovely people,
I am writing because the above subject has been a thorn in my side for quite sometime.
I don't want to get into the debate here on if vaccines cause autism and all of our "expert" opinions on the matter, but I wanted to know if other parents feel the way I do.
I hate seeing the stuff on facebook/yahoo news about how I shouldn't get my child vaccinated because it could cause autism. I worked on a pediatric floor for months and the amount of unvaccinated kids is beyond alarming. These parents would rather their child get whopping cough of polio and potentially die from these diseases instead of getting them vaccinated because autism is apparently the worst thing that could ever happen to a child.
Children who aren't vaccinated and for some reason end up in the hospital are at higher risk for complicated infections, and a lot of them cannot receive the health care they need because of they aren't vaccinated. We had children who came in for other issues (such as GI) and couldn't get treated for what put them in the hospital because their parents refused vaccinations.

I hope to eventually write a much more comprehensive blog on this, but I wanted to collect stories from other parents who have stories and opinions that may carry more weight than mine.

So what do you guys think about the select members of society that advocate that death is better than autism?

For one Posting about this on our beloved WP is like going to post how third wave feminism is horrible on a third wave feminist issue. You gotta expect feed back that is pretty what do I say. I can't think of the word Condescending there it is. Mostly rage to.

Like Adamantium, the rules prevent me from frankly giving my view of the "vaccination causes autism" conspiracy theories and people who (still) try to force this nonsense onto others who make it perfectly clear that these transparently false claims are both untrue and unwelcome.

I second, third, fourth, fifth, etc. that sentiment!

If vaccines caused autism, we would have had a doozy of an epidemic in the mid 50s-early 60s--the heyday of the polio vaccines---when people waited on long lines to get their shots/cups of vaccine.

I hate how autism is seen as a medical boogeyman nowadays. Along with the "autism is the new ret*d" trend in comment sections and elsewhere, I'm shocked that people act shocked when I don't disclose my AS until I absolutely need to. People have told me that I should have been aborted because of my neurotype.

Don't listen to those people. They don't know what they're talking about.

With all the impunity by which the commentators here defends vaccinations, let's wait for them to defend the coming of any other epidemic, (moderator deletion).

The End Of The World Is Nigh? Ha, ha, ha.

So, autism never existed before vaccination? It may have had many different names over the ages but it's always been here and the proportion of the population who are autistic probably remains pretty stable.

The apparent "epidemic" is simply due to the fact that autism is now recognised as a conditon and consequently more people are being diagnosed with it. The spike in numbers also contains many adults who have had autism all of their lives, but were not diagnosed in the past because nobody recognised what their condition actually was. Once this backlog of formerly undiagnosed autistic adults has been dealt with the number of diagnoses will decrease and stabalise.

I really hate the frequency with which pseudoscience shows up here.

There is no credible, scientific evidence shown by any reputable source for this supposed link. I agree with everyone who have stated the reasons for increased global awareness and diagnosis of autism.

I think a lot of the cause is hereditary, and there is evidence of clustering within families. Anecdotally, I can trace autistic traits in my family (though obviously not actual diagnosis) back through the generations, to family members who lived in the early 1900s, back when people were rightly concerned about the diseases some people seem so anxious to make more prevalent today.

Whether there is some additional exogenous factors contributing to autism, I don't know, but if so there is no evidence it has anything to do with vaccines.

(sarcasm) Computers and cell phones are very prevalent now, and not in the past from when they could not diagnose autism very well, so maybe we should blame them for the spread of autism. (/sarcasm)

Or we can point out that autism was discovered not long after television broadcasts began...

Then you would also be pointing out something completely false.

Autism was codified in the DSM in 1911.

Television broadcasts started experimentally started in the 1930's... Thimerosal (the mercury compound Wakefield blamed) was invented in 1927

Well, if it was discovered before television broadcasts began, it technically was not long after that happened :nerdy:
