I heard some guy on a bus hollaring about how pushy women are. How are women pushy?
Gee, let me think a bit:
Welllll.......we push 'em out when they're born
we push 'em in strollers
we push 'em on swings
we push 'em out to play with the other boys
as teen girls, we push'em off of us
as women, we push 'em toward marriage
we push 'em out to work
and then we push 'em to take out a big insurance policy, then we push 'em down the stairs. 8)

I guess said guy is not a parent, as fathers also do at least some of the the pushing... i'm not a parent myself...

if dads don't push, they'll most likely get in trouble with the mums :D

could just be gf troubles though :)

This line takes the humor out of the entire thread, and pretty much clinches the argument for men not to get married, ever. Whoever wrote it and decided to pass it off as a joke permanently lost my respect!

I don't get the Obama reference. But the notion that you'd MURDER your own husband by pushing him down the stairs just sickens me. I can't we believe that we have a person on WP who would marry a man just to get his money and the kids, then "get rid of him". And if that's the case, then wouldn't a divorce be a better option than murder? Then you'd get free alimony money every month, instead of just one lump insurance payment. Plus it's legal.

And come to think of it, falling down the stairs doesn't result in death, broken bones or paralysis at most, so that probably wouldn't give you any insurance money to begin with. If anything, you'd get stuck with the medical bills; after all, the Obama-care proposal fell through.

We live in a world in which women's rights are still part of the discussion. Until that discussion is no longer necessary, women should be pushy.

that last line is actually the punch line, it provides the humor of the entire joke. the entire thing is a joke, no need to take offense to it.

as for alimony, thats a rare case these days. even if you have kids, depending on the state you live in, getting child support can be nearly impossible. in some states, if the non-custodial parent is unemployed, they can legally CHOOSE not to pay child support. ironic, considering the custodial parent cant legally choose not to feed and house the child.

so strictly speaking, divorce is no guarantee of monetary benefit. i havent crunched the numbers, but i suspect a well executed push down the stairs is significantly more profitable. of course, then you have the downside that a poorly planned push can land you in jail, instead of the poorhouse you would get with a divorce.

hmmm.... jail or the poorhouse, quite the quandary!

Nothing gets your blood pumpin' like a good fall down the stairs.
