So, yeah.
The lady that is with the MRDD and helping me with the IEP did her observation and started her report, but wanted to do another observation. She called me last week and is apparently on Jury duty this week and is hoping to make it but might not be able to. I haven't heard back from her since, haven't seen a copy of her report... and I talked to the principle at a PTA meeting Monday and he said he hadn't seen her since then. I meant to call her yesterday, but somehow forgot :S...
So... here we go!
I did talk to her over the phone and got a couple of the things she was planning on recommending for his IEP, so I will make sure to bring those up! She said she had others too but was going to get them into the report (which I haven't seen, and hope she submitted to them.)
Hoping she isn't on some huge jury case that she isn't allowed to communicate to the outside world!

Just about everything I want in the IEP is on there, one of the things is sensory and they have an OT? who is going to evaluate him to see what she recommends.
Apparently they already have a sensory room in the building. Wordage on their copy of the IEP states things like "fixates" "moves pencil quickly so he can look at it" Everyone is in agreement that he just cannot sit still.
They are starting a visual calendar for each day to put on his desk, a reward system using tickets that he can use to "purchase" a preferred activity. (5 minutes of computer time, we need to think of at least 3 more to choose from).
Restroom breaks added into written (already were doing, just not written down).
Teachers/aide to check/write in his homework planner and check bag before it goes home for correct books daily. (If this doesn't get the right stuff home then we will probably get him a second set of books and have one at home.)
Keeping extended time on exams and breaks during (includes state exams).
We are graduating from speech class, and only doing an in room speech where he can practice every once in a while his /r/ sounds and be prompted to articulate (15 minutes a week).
The tutor is going to start coming in to teach him how to use his visual chart and the reward system, and is going to help with course work on a as needed basis.
A cafeteria monitor is going to prompt him to keep eating lunch if he slows down or stops before eating most of it.
The MRDD, or now known as the DD (becuase MR is no longer politically correct), did show up. She said "report" and I thought on paper, she meant she was going to report orally at the IEP meeting.
We are coming back mid January to discuss the OTs opinions on sensory issues and what she thinks he can benefit from. (at that time we will also try to get more things in it based on the middle school experience because it will go over into next year, and next year is middle school and changing classes.) For middle school we will discuss leaving early to get to next class, scheduled time to clean out locker once a week, and supplies and books kept for him in each of his class rooms with a spare set of all books at home.
Looks good so far!
