Advice/Tips needed - preschool/IEP

Hello everyone again. We're in the very early stages of formulating a plan for helping my aspie son with his education. He's going to turn 4 soon and is in a great preschool. His teacher couldn't be more cooperative. She's even offered to keep him in her class again next year. Anyways, could anyone point me towards some online articles I could print out for her? Specifically geared towards preschoolers?

Also, we're getting ready for our IEP. Any advice?

You will probably have to search around for preschool specifically. I hope this helps.

I found some good info for how to prepare for an ARD at www.ldonline.org .
It's a website with lots of advice on dealing with learning disabilities.

Hope things go well with the IEP.

One hint I can offer on the IEP process. Don't allow them to dumb down the expectations for your child. He needs to meet the same expectations as the other children if he is to succeed in the real world. Make sure the IEP contains the strategies the school will use to help your child to function at his highest level. Good Luck

oooh another thought.....don't make things too overly complicated either~ the more complicated and cumbersome things become, the less likely teachers are to address them. what i'm trying to say is :prioritize.

Not to totally change gears here but how does everyone here feel about MONTESSORI? I don't know a whole lot about it.

depends on your kid, and the teachers. i've seen some run quite poorly, and others run well. bottom line, you have to visit and get a feel for what you're comfortable with. i would think, though, that clear social boundaries & rules would be a definite priority for anyone with Aspergers.
