according to the text books, it's usually 2-4 years before they can give their first and last names. I'm not sure about writing; it's probably a bit later on.

yeah, that's what I'm reading. Just wanted to get a second opinion.

thanks!

It's just that she's 2 years, 4 months old and she can recognize all letters of the alphabet and just a few minutes ago, wrote an o, an i, a v and an a. Simple letters for sure but it's making me a proud papa!

I was 5 before I was able to recognize my written name. I was able to recognize it by ear, at the age of 1 and a bit.

My daughter is a bit behind. She just turned 5 last month and is in kindergarten. She has learned to write her name before even recognizing the letters in her name because it is what is expected in K. My son learned around age 4. She has a speech delay that may contribute to her going at a slower rate. He has ASD. I don't know what typical is lol!

My dd was able to recognise letters at age 2yrs (and numbers), and now at 2.5yrs she knows them all in upper and lower case, and can recognise her written name.

But this is quite ahead of development, it is not usually untill a child is about 4yrs that this skill would be expected. My dd is not writing any letters, again this would be very advanced for her age. My dd can draw people, but never attempted letters.

What a clever little girl xx
