OK. I go through the typical "my child isn't autistic" because he is so social lately. He is called the smiley boy at school and doesn't seem to struggle socially at least from what I can see and what I hear (I work at the school but don't spy on him).
Then there are days he is just too cute. My husband was saying that a few days ago while he was driving, Nate said, "Dad, when I get home I am going to get out of the van, walk on the grass because it's icy out, open the door, open the other one, close the door, walk through the hall, go to the bathroom, and then turn right into the play room because I MUST GO DO MY KNEX AND FINISH THAT ROLLERCOAST LOL. He hasn't talked like that for a few months now. I absolutely adore my son. LOVE HIM.
So, he has a best friend in school (he is in full day kindergarten). He talks about this girl all the time. I even met her once. She is the cutest girl ever. I guess Nate and she play all the time. They are like attached to each other. I went shopping today (dreaded experiences) and this woman knew who I was. I guess she recognized me from this bookfair at the beginning of the school year. I was completely excited that I was finally able to talk to her as her daughter is my sons best friend. He has never had a best friend before.
Her mom explained that her daughter is funny about her clothes. She loves wearing her lego shirt and wants to wear it each day. She has spiderman pjs that she wears under her pants. Wow. That must be one reason why Nate likes her. She is obsessed with legos. She can do huge lego sets by herself, just like Nate. Her favorite thing to do when she was younger was brio tracks. Same with Nate. She is really into creating and seemed to has narrowed interestes - shares them with Nate. I guess the other day this girl got stuck on one part of her lego set and asked her father to help her on that level. SHE SAID LEVEL! Nate says levels all the time. Last year he created his own levels to describe his night time routine.
Level one fish oil, level two vitamins..... I guess she has been saying level before she even met Nate
We are going to have some play dates during the christmas break. They both can play legos together.
I AM SO HAPPY. I honestly hope they stay friends forever. I am definitely going to request that they stay in the same class together next year. This kind of stuff just doesn't happen!!
