...you don't get a telephone call from the school principal, vice principal, teacher, or other school staff.

you have summed up a ton of feeling in a single very short post!

Totally agree. The problem is that you are still on pins and needles waiting for the call.

Yes, those dreaded calls.
Received TWO today (for two kids) had to drive to pick one of them up (change of clothes/off day).

 I am So glad that someone else feels like that. Sometimes it seems like I must be the only parent in the world on the principal's speed dial

Yes, I know what you mean - I took my son with me to pick up his younger sister - first time he has been in that school in almost 2 years. He received personal greetings from everyone - even the principal. I suppose the at least weekly getting send to the principals office may have helped.

I get these phone calls at the beginning of every year...like the first two or three months until she gets used to being there. Plus she's in middle school so she's picked up swearing which she doesn't do discretely when she's angry. Beginning of year = lots of angry outbursts = lots of public swearing at school. Funny, her teachers and I met for a 504 meeting in january and all commented on how much her attitude has changed since the beginning, "she was swearing all the time," one said. She's so nice and social now. I wonder if there's a way to avoid the beginning of year transition troubles....lord I wish.

On a good note, this has been her best quarter in school so far, grade wise. The 504 plan combined with hard work on her part has really helped.

This was supposed to be one of those "fun and games"-type threads where people complete the topic title with a one-liner that is funny, cute, ironic, sardonic, or otherwise amusing...oh well

I like the days when Madison is in a place where she wants to be close and hug. We both tend to prefer extra personal space and can go days without touching and not thinking about it. But then sometimes she just needs some closeness. Last night I couldn't find her and went in my bedroom. Was brushing my hair when she jumped out of the closet (scaring me to death)...but then said, "I wanted to give you a hug and say goodnight." She sat down next to me and hugged me very thoroughly.

I love it when the other children or his brother run over and ask him to play and he runs off and joins in. Basically love to see him have fun. I also love it when he gets a new swimming certificate because he really struggles in the pool.

...I put the kids to bed and, with sleepy eyes, they hug me and tell me they love me.

A good day for a parent is: when your kiddo that doesn't say he loves you or hug you at all during day hours, curls up to you on the couch for some "mommy time" in the evenings. Love watching funny shows together!! !

ASD son and NT son play in the sandbox together and no one bleeds or even screams "MOOOOOOOOOM"!

(but I totally love the days with no phone calls from the school the most!)
