Hi:

Thought I'd share that my son Noah -- who has posted a few things in the Kids Crater under the name "doorknob18" -- found out yesterday that a poem he sent away to a contest is going to be published in an anthology of student poets. He is also a finalist to win a cash prize for his poem.

I like reading about everyone else's successes and positive experiences, so I hope it's OK to share one of our own. Everyone in our family is really proud of our li'l poet!

BTW, he's really appreciating the feedback and responses he's been getting to his posts in the Kids Crater. You guys are helping him feel less "alone." Thanks very much.

Thats great!! !
I love to write and I started around fifth grade when one of the few good teachers I had told me how much she liked my writing. I think it was the first time I got that kind of encouragement from a teacher. Tell him to keep it up :D

That is AWESOME! As a former honours English Lit student, I am so happy to hear about young people writing. A huge congratulations :)

In middle school, I got some poems published in the school's book. In HS, I decided to give the equivalent organization the finger because it was rigged. I compared the list of names of artist contributors to the list of people on the committee that determined what got published, and they were a nearly perfect match.

I like your son's poetry. I know there are lots of different venues for being published and some mean more than others but, regardless, if it makes him happy, it's a good thing.

Congrats on your son's published poem! I'm always going to click onto a thread that says "some good news", so thank you for sharing!
