I asked my husband to take care of some of the party invites. Usually when I ask for him to do something for me, I'm unconsciously saying "please do this right now so I can stop worrying about it." Which he doesn't get.

So this morning I said, "I'm feeling anxious about those party invites, because I need to be able to order the wristbands in time." He made the calls immediately.

I realized afterwards that without thinking about it I used exactly the phrasing -- "I'm feeling anxious" -- my son would have used. And my husband probably responded so well out of habit.

I have learned to not assume that someone understands what I am thinking too!

Oh yes, that's a good one.

Also, it always makes me angry when my son complains about me in the third person while I'm in the room. And I've since realized that I do that too, to him.
