We came home to find out little 5lb 9yr old chihuahua dead in the backyard. He was laying there on his side with his head all twisted back around. I flipped him over to find a gunshot wound right behind his front shoulder/leg area. Of course, he was in the middle of the yard so my 8yr old daughter seen him as well. We have been having problems with some neighbors who have aggressive dogs and last week after they attacked our dog I called the police out to take pics of his wounds and demanded that something be done. Apparently they retaliated by killing our little dog. I took pics and emailed them to the officer we have been dealing with before I buried him. I cried a bunch, he was my little boy! My daughter got upset and said we needed to go shoot all their dogs but she didn't really cry. Then she started talking 10 million miles an hour about everything for the next couple of hours until I finally asked her to please stop because I was upset and my head hurt. She said "I'm just trying to talk about things to stop myself from crying. You know, let it out instead of in."

I know she'll cry more later. That little dog was so good with her. She loved him a lot.

I feel silly having cried more than her.

I hope you consider filing a restraining order/order of protection against your neighbors and investigating how successful you would be in a lawsuit for intentional infliction of emotional distress.

They are bastards who will keep inflicting damage unless their bullying is stopped. I wish you and your daughter peace in your memories of your dog.

I hope you can get a restraining order on those you believe did it. That's so incredibly awful. I hope you are okay.

Oh, that's awful! I hope the Police can take action against whoever did this. It's scary. :(

Take care, both of you. I'll keep you in my prayers.

Seriously, who shoots a dog (or a cat or a bird or other pet)? That's just wrong.

How wretched! How ghastly!
I am so sorry for your loss and I hope you'll do everything you can to ensure the shooter will serve time in prison for his heinous act.

i am so sorry for what happened. if you live where there is a large animal control presence, maybe something can be done. if you live in small town texas, maybe not so.

spent a lot of time helping out in shelters, rescues, transport of non-human animals. this is not unusual as awful as that is to hear. it's hard to understand why the police, animal control did not tell you not to have any of your animals outside when you weren't home after you complained. worse things have happened to dogs/cats in situations like this.

you may have no option other than move. please do not leave animals unattended outside. you remember michael vick? vick and his pals used to drive around suburbs, find unattended dogs, take them, and throw them to his fighting pit bulls to kill.

we live in terrible times. i know you and your family loved your little dog very much and that the dog knew it. many dogs never know love or kindness. we hope for the best for your family.

This kind of senseless, cruel, and heartless act is beyond comprehension for those of
us who cherish our furry companions...I am flooded with deep  sorrow for your loss. I wish we could be there in person to support you and your little girl...From one parent to another...
Know that we are sending you and your family love and courage to deal with this situation.
Stay safe...
Hugs to you & your daughter

Anjie
