Wow, that is wonderful. IDK what specific issues you felt he needed improvement is but his speech, inflection, eye contact, sentence structure, mannerisms, etc...everything is great! You did a good job mom!
Thank you bjtao. I think Greg did particularly well during the video. As I said, he behaves entirely differently today compared to two years ago - I just don't have a 'before' video to share.
Back then, he would barely look at you, unless you held his chin in your hand and forced him to. His body language was extremely uptight, with his shoulders nearly up to his ears and hands tightly clenched. He toe-walked and had constant motor and verbal tics. He spent as much time off in his own head as he possibly could, especially avoiding crowds, noise and any type of over-stimulation.
Today, he is much more relaxed, cooperative and able to express himself, although he still has tics most of the time (they are much less obvious). He still prefers to be by himself or away in his head, so he will frequently stand alone in a crowd. But he is able to cope with frustration and stimulation much better now, so he doesn't respond like he is under attack constantly.
Right now we are taking a bit of a breather from all the therapies, etc. because Greg seems to be doing so well. He goes to middle school next year, so I imagine we will face some new challenges then. But for now....we'll enjoy the good times!
