Kids think my son is mean...
I wrote this from my son, who has Asperger Syn, perspective.
My son has a lot pf problems when his younger brother (NT) brings over his (NT) friends to the house..... "D" always growls and says inconsiderate things to these kids, and I have heard them say things like .... "A" (younger NT brother), is THAT your brother?.... he's so mean..."
It is heartbreaking.
Here is what I wrote about it...:
I have Asperger Syndrome…..
My little brother brought
his friends.
What “they” didn’t understand,
is what’s mine is mine….
and not yours.
How could you use my scooter
without my explixit invitation ?
You ALL are jerks…..
I didn’t give you
my permission.
The boy said I was mean,
but I don’t care.
Because he used my stuff,
when I wasn’t even there.
I stomped my feet,
and yelled at them,
They dispersed…....
THANK GOD !
My mother said to me,
as she pulled me inside…..
“The way you talk to them
shows a mean kid inside….
have patience and try to understand,
they would like to be friends with you,
if you gave them a chance.”
My dad said…..
in an angry voice….....
“Do you want to be known as
the Jerk of Jollyville?! !!”
My mom was outside in the backyard
contemplating things.
I came to her with a semi – grin
and said,
“Hi mom.”
I gave her a hug and she said,
“Son, don’t judge a book by it’s cover….
some of my best friends
were people that I had to get to know,
then I realized
they were nice…...
.....
give them a chance, son.”
Then,
I smiled a crooked smile,
and I left….
I just don’t understand.

My parents say other kids thought I was mean too. Even today, they say that the majority of the bullying I recieved at school was my fault. If I was such a bully myself, wouldn't the other kids be too afraid to bully me? It makes me so sad that my parents think this.

I'm not weird, you're just too normal.
If your son is anything like myself, then he has set up proper social boundaries that he follows. Rules to help him cope in social situations. Sometimes I stick to these rules to the point of yelling and screaming and not realizing that only I am the one that is following these rules. Then there is also the problem of belongings. I am very protective of my personal things and I do not like people touching my things, let alone using them. I also get upset when something that belongs to me is in a different place than where I left it.
