I follow a couple blogs on AS and autism, and the following post made me cry; I thought I would share it with you. http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/asp ... t/comments

I had never seen the movie, so I found it online here: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... 597020377#

The metaphor for autism is really striking.

Quote:
many adults with Asperger's, post diagnosis, take "long walks" through their memories, re-evaluating them in the context of Asperger's. During the course of these "long walks," there are times when you find your perceptions change dramatically, and pieces fall together in a way they haven't before.

That's exactly what I did. It made a lot of things make sense to me that never did before. That's why I think it can be good to get a diagnosis even if, like me, you are an adult and will not be getting any treatment or therapy, because it is so useful to know WHY things happened the way they did.

There are parts of the movie that are like autism, but a lot that isn't. But I can see how a kid would grab onto that movie.

I moved on from my early diet of sci-fi (mostly driven by my brother) to fantasy.

I was a changeling. :D
