my 16 year old aspie needs to change his medication, risperdal and ritalin. His pediatrician wont do it and he hasnt been to a psychiatrist in 3 years. He is also having some weird feelings issues. He doesnt want to take anything now. I dont know whether thats like a bi-polar thinking they dont need the meds anymore. He is almost 18 and I dont want him to get familar with a doctor only to have to leave in a year and a half to change to an adult psychiatrist. I cannot find any in South Jersey unless he is registared with the Department of Developmental Disabilities and I dont want to do that. Help.

Can you go to Children's Specialized Hospital in Toms River?

Why don't you want to take the DDD route?

Toms River is a bit far. I dont know enough about the DDD to do intake. I have a call in. Just dont know what to do. we have been rolling along without any major problems for a while. He actually told me about this site. The last place we went was CHOP for three years at the ADHD clinic and they never even mentioned Aspergers. We finally went to a nerologist and got the diagnosis. Now he will have nothing to do with CHOP cause he thinks they are idiots that they didnt diagnose him correctly. He has been stuck on this these meds without anyone willing to adjust them.
