Anyone have any summer canps they reccommend for a 12 yo boy? We're considering Camp Northwood. Anyone know of it? Heard anything about it?
Thanks.

Hi, Dad.

I'm not familiar with the camp but its website sure looks good.

My 12 year old has never been to camp. Has your child gone before? In general has he liked it? Mine is such a home-body, but then so am I.

You might want to start a thread on Camp Northwood on www.schwablearning.org

I know a few of the members are from NY and so might be familiar with it.

Good luck

Our 12 yo son did go to camp last summer but we were all very dissappointed in the camp itself. As unhappy as he was (he really perseverates on negative energy), he came home more helpful, more independent, and more mature. He actually said he wants to go to camp again just not that one. If going to an outdoor camp doesn;t work this summer, he'll go to computer camp next.

I don't have personal experience, but here's what appears to be a rather thorough list:

I'd like to send my 10 year old to camp, but he really doesn't like sports at all. In any case, camp won't be this year.

Thanks for the list, platypus! I'll have to review it more closely.
