Hi my son 12yrs AS is due to take summer tests, This is causing huge stress and anxiety for him and me at the moment. Any tips I have explained to him that test are only to help teachers to see where he is and if he needs any support in the subjects that might be difficult for him. I have tried but its not working, he is going to school very anxious everyday I think its just prob school, but this week its because of the summer test extra study that he is not interested in doing, and next week the test will be everyday and he will worry that he is not prepared. He will finished next week for the summer nearly 3 months this has not eased his anxiety.

Thanks

Annmaria

I would encourage him to follow self calming techniques and also see if you can distract him a little in the off hours. Let him know that doing well on a test isn't just about what you know, but also about mindset going in. While you might not be able to make sure he knows all the right info, you CAN make sure he brings his best self to the test. What sorts of routines and activities really help him be his best self?
