My daughter and I were drawing today and she made me this and said, "here daddy, I made Spider-Man!"

And a nice Spiderman drawing it is indeed! I hope you gave it a great place of honor on the fridge.

Awwww. I remember this stage. This is sooo sweet. I still keep my daughter's drawings. I cherish them. They make me smile.

If I were you, I would really allow her creative side to flourish. I am an artist, and I know talent when I see it....she has got some skilz for her age and if they were allowed to grow, she could turn out to be a good artist which would give her self esteem a refuge when she gets older. Art has given me self esteem and self worth and some popularity despite my social dificulties, plus in the artsy croud, it is more acceptable to be different and even socially "odd" than the mainstream. I found self exceptance at art school.

I think jojobean has a point. My daughter has AS and she enjoys art very much. Actually is one of those few things she will concentrate to the point that she will forget everything else (the other two things are reading and watching videos in YouTube). I think drawing and painting actually relaxes her and let her express herself. And she is pretty good at it.
