I am really only have a moan here, my head is wrecked took my son to the local services expecting them to explain what are causing his moods swings.

Instead I got confirmation that he has OCD but not (adhd did assessment I have 3 dx of ADHD 1.psychologist 2. paediatrician/neurologist 3. psychiatrist, all independent) not AS without them doing an assessment. I have gone private and got dx given them all the reports. They are disputing his dx off hand without even assessing. I know he is on the waiting list for ASD Services which takes 2 years. He/we need intervention now :x

If I have this services on board they can push for early intervention I live in a small town so private services are lacking I had to travel a great distance to go private. They are driving me crazy, on top of all the other stresses, why does it have to be such a battle. Positive is they will treat him for OCD hopefully they will offer some therapy and look at his meds. My own needs are that I need confirmation I hate when there is disagreement for my own sanity. It will adversely affect my son and family.

I always found it difficult to express myself or be understood, I used to thing that I was stupid or others were stupid now I know its others!! !!

The good news is that many of the interventions for OCD work well for AS - in particular Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, so if you need services, ask for that. OCD is often treated with antidepressants, but usually those are offered on a trial-and-error basis, so if they aren't working for your son, they will try something else (it might be worth your while to read up on the medications so you can make an educated decision.)

I hope this gets sorted out for you, I know what kind of a stress this can be!

This may seem like a drastic/unrealistic suggestion but I wonder if contacting a known autism expert (university researcher, etc) would help you. Interactions with academics in my experience are much less likely to have bureaucratic holdups as they truly care about the topic of their expertise and are eager to solve problems presented to them regarding their field.

I've had CBT and it doesn't work on me. They assume that a) you can control what you think, and b) your thoughts lead to your emotions. Neither is true for me. I can make myself think something but I'm completely incapable of making myself not think something, and if I try to counter one thought with another (eg 'my parents don't love me' 'my parents love me but are frustrated with my meltdown') I just end up with both thoughts rapidly repeating in a circle and seriously annoying me. And more importantly, my thoughts seem to have very little effect on how I feel - instead, how I feel affects my thoughts. I don't feel depressed because I think 'my parents don't love me', instead I think 'my parents don't love me' because I feel depressed. My verbal thoughts are the narration for what I'm really thinking, which is nonverbal.

I know other autistics have been helped by CBT, though, so it's worth a try.
